Need Closure After a Loss?
We light candles all the time.. we forget that it can be sacred.
Lighting of a candle illuminates darkness, you can offer blessings, solidify intentions, evoke spirit, celebrate birthdays, express gratitude for a life…. Have you attended a candlelight vigil? Think about it…
What were you doing?
A ritual.
A ritual is an action that is made with intention. When you marry intention with an action you are engaged in a ritual. These can be sacred, they can represent thoughts, ideas, beliefs, or myths. What they really do is bring purpose to your actionsLet’s bring back intention to our living. Get back to our roots. I invite you to bring rituals into your life in many ways, but for the sake of this post, it is to obtain closure for your lost loved one.
If you have a family member, a close friend, a partner that has passed away from their body, and you feel you are missing out on closure with them, do a ritual!
You can light a candle.
Invoke their energy by meditating on them.
When you do, you will intentionally bring them into your energy field with you. After you do this, you will be able to say what you need to say in order to get closure. You can yell, cry, scream, write, do whatever it is that feels comfortable to release the energy you are holding onto that brings you closure. You can do this as many times as necessary, just notice if you are feeling better afterwards, because you should feel better, or at least a lighter sense of energy afterwards.
When academia, or conventional methods have failed you in your grieving, try out this sacred ritual. After all, your spirit influences the health of your body and mind.
Sometimes connecting with others that are going through the same thing can help you get over the hump as well. Look for a grief recovery specialist (see link below!) in your area. Connect with others in a church. It is important that you remember you are not alone in this.
